Dear Drive Insurance Customer:
We hope you and your family are safe following the tornadoes that hit Central Florida on February 2, 2007.
In an effort to give all Floridians in Lake, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties who were affected by the tornadoes time to recover without the fear of losing insurance coverage, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has enacted an Emergency Order that designates a time period, from February 2, 2007 through April 15, 2007, during which their insurance policies can't be cancelled or non-renewed as a result of filing a claim(s) or non-payment of premium unless they request a cancellation or non-renewal.
Drive Insurance values you as a customer. We want to help you get your life back in order by complying with the Emergency Order and will not cancel or non-renew your policy due to filing a claim or non-payment of premium unless you request it. This communication will help explain what we are doing and answer questions you may have.
What does this mean to you?
If you were affected by the tornadoes and have a payment due to us between February 2, 2007 and April 15, 2007, and you're unable to make the payment but wish to continue your coverage with us, you must call us at 1-800-555-7761 to let us know.
What should you do if you've already received a Cancel Notice from us?
If you receive a cancel notice with an effective date between February 2, 2007 and April 15, 2007, have been affected by the tornadoes and cannot make a payment but wish to continue your coverage with us, you must call us at 1-800-555-7761.
What action should you take?
If you have been affected by the tornadoes, and, as a result, cannot pay your insurance premium but wish to continue your coverage with us, call 1-800-555-7761.
If you do call, you will still be responsible for paying your premium but we will not require you to pay us for coverage until April 15, 2007. After April 15, 2007, if you have not paid your premium, you'll receive a bill letting you know the amount you owe for any past due premium as well as any amount due as a result of providing coverage to you through this period.
If you do not call, you will continue to receive bills and you will be required to pay them as usual.
You may also choose to cancel your policy. To do so, please contact your local independent agent or call 1-800-555-7761. As usual, you will be responsible for past due amounts as a result of coverage provided to you through the date of your requested cancellation.
Due to the importance of this message, you may also receive this information via the U.S. Postal Service or via e-mail.
