Important Information About Your Vehicle
Insurance Policy
Dear Progressive Customer,
Mount Redoubt is showing signs of erupting. If a large eruption occurs, projections show that ash could drift as far as Kenai and Anchorage. Heat from lava flows could melt snow and ice, triggering floods and mudflows.
Your personal safety is important to us. Please listen to local news to be aware of any evacuation orders that may affect you. Volcanic ash can damage your vehicle's paint and cause severe damage to the engine. If you're in an area where ash may drift, here are some tips to protect you and your vehicle:
- If you can avoid it, don't drive for long periods in areas with airborne or accumulated volcanic ash — it can cause damage to your engine. If your vehicle is exposed to large amounts of volcanic ash, change your air filter and have your vehicle checked by a qualified auto mechanic as soon as you can.
- If ash accumulates on your vehicle's paint or windows, don't brush it off. Ash is very abrasive and can scratch your vehicle's finish and glass; prolonged exposure to ash can chemically damage paint and glass, too. Carefully wash the ash from your vehicle with a steady stream of water as soon as you can.
- Contact us any day, 24 hours a day, if you need to file a claim as a result of the volcano.
We're glad that you're our customer, and we promise to come through for you when you need us most.
Sincerely,
Scott
